In response to President Biden’s October 11 declaration of a major disaster in Florida caused by Hurricane Milton, HUD declared a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures of mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). The moratorium and extension are effective as of the President’s disaster declaration date until January 9, 2025. As part of this moratorium, lenders of FHA-insured loans are not allowed to file new foreclosure cases, move for a foreclosure judgment, or conduct a sale.
